HWC Committees

Project HOPE (Hopkinton Organization for Positive Endeavors) - Coordinates food drives, sneaker drives, jean drives, and provides holiday gift certificates to assist needy community residents.  Assists local organizations with donations of clothing, food, personal hygine products, and other needed items.

Conservation (formerly Going Green) - Formed to help bring awareness to the community of the responsibility we all share in helping to preserve the environment.  With a concerted effort in rethinking how we can reduce, reuse, or recycle, each one of us can make a difference.

Fundraising - Responsible for the fundraising efforts which make all Club contributions and project possible.

Community Service - This committee has four sub-committees which include Blood Drives, Candidates Night, Scholarships, and Town Beautification.

Extracurricular Events - plans social and educational outings in and around Hopkinton, including museum visits, luncheons, and excursions to Greater Boston attractions.


Examples of HWC Member Outings for the coming year:

  • Gallery Night in Providence, RI. A free and fun-filled introduction to the exciting Providence art scene. Ride the art bus for a private 2 hour celebrity guided tour leaving from the Regency Plaza parking lot either at 5:30, 6, 6:30 or 7 depending on our choice of celebrity and choice of Historic, Educational, International, Contemporary Galleries or Artisan Shops.
  • Outing to Worcester Art Museum's 'Flora in Winter'

Programs - plans monthly programs and activities for the entertainment, education and social benefit of the membership.

Examples of programs for the coming year:
  • Elder Services and Outreach presented by Mary McLeod and Marlene Troupes
  • Special Program: bCalm Yoga Presentation. Classes are inspired by the Baptise Method of Power Vinyasa yoga. Vinyasa Yoga is a popular yoga that focuses on integrating breath, movement, strength, and flexibility.
  • Fall flower arranging with Henry Schmidt of Weston Nurseries
  • Culinary Delights at CLARKE - the ultimate kitchen resource center
  • Annual Holiday Dinner and Serenity House gift collection
  • Valentine's Breakfast
  • Chinese culture presented by the HHS Exchange teacher
  • Investment Strategy for retirement
Hospitality - Acts as refreshment coordinator, scheduling hostesses and helpers for monthly meetings and special functions.

Membership - responsible for distribution of names, addresses, and phone numbers of new members to the club members, submits updates for the club handbook, and introduces new members and makes them feel welcome.

Nomination - committee of three prepares a list of candidates for officers, auditor, chairwomen of standing committees, the subsequent nominating committee, and presents the slate to the club by May 1st of each year.

Notification - contacts club members to relay important information via e-mail or phone.

Publicity - responsible for getting club news in area newspapers, online venues, and on local cable TV.
